BUT STILL, YOU (diptych), 2025
$18,800.00
Acrylic, ink, enamel, paper on Belgian Linen
72 × 96 × 1.5 ″
This diptych features mixed media pigments and paper collage interspersed in layered arrays that render ethereal tonal effects over raw textile grounds. Pulling from a distorted memory bank of light-filled vistas following extensive travels, my compositions tend to evoke imagery of deconstructed landscapes or loosely splayed flowers. However, I purposefully avoid representation, preferring instead a vague composition that can be anything to anyone, imbuing the viewer with a sense of ambiguity that feels both familiar and imagined. This particular painting was inspired by colors and memories of a time when I lived along the California coastline and would take long, scenic drives along the Pacific Coast Highway to clear my mind. I frequently revisit the colors and visuals of my time there, painting hazy and time-worn memories as a form of escapism. This diptych painting was created in a series of studio sessions over several months, as the extensive layering process required sufficient drying time in between layers. Many small moments and movements add up over time to build subtle color and texture. Although this painting was initially created in 2023, I reworked it in 2025 to correct light cosmetic damage sustained during a gallery consignment. This artwork consists of two panels wrapped in Belgian Linen over a canvas backer and features gallery wrapped, painted edges. Textured and multi-layered in ink stains and mixed media, this gestural abstract artwork ships with hanging hardware and will be sent unframed to allow flexibility whether to frame as two separate artworks or one combined oversized artwork. Titled and signed on back; ships with certificate of authenticity.
